Research forms an integral part of Montabonel & Partners’ strategy, since it underpins every one of our activities. Whether it be developing a collection for a client, preparing an exhibition, outlining a symposium, or devising a publication, good research is essential to the achievement of our goals. The close study of materials and sources leads to knowledge based on solid, verifiable evidence. Moreover, we understand research to include productive dialogue with specialists in relevant fields, with the aim of maintaining a position at the cutting edge of current developments. Research projects delivered in 2016 include a report on the summit Going Public, which took place in Sheffield, a major think-tank entitled Media in the Expanded Field, held at Casa Wabi Foundation in Mexico, which examined the impact of new media on structural and curatorial developments at public and private institutions, and a retrospective exhibition of the influential American photographer Lewis Baltz.
